Multiple Language Support (on web)

We’re back to business as usual. So we have released multiple language support for the website. For now we only have Dutch and English in there (please report the mistakes ;). But there are much more languages coming up. We’ll keep you posted.

If anybody tries to sell you a phone…..

This morning I came to our office and I was too zoned to see what had happened. It was only when the other guys came in that I noticed that we’d had a burglary. It seems all we got we have lost. They stole all our testing telephones (a lot) and an iMac. At least they left us our crappy PC’s, if only they had also left us our crappy testing phones. Who needs a 6230i anyways?
So now it’s insurance funtime for us. Then we’ll put in some kick ass, web2.0, off the shelf, out of the box, turn key, anti-burglary solution and buy new testing equipment.

We’ll also be tracking our Nulaz phones down of course. That’s our job. When the burglar get’s a GPS fix, it’ll be showtime for us. We have everything in place for the hunt……

Blackberry Support

It took a while….but we got it done (thanks to Remi). For all the business people going for beers on a Friday evening, there is no need anymore to call everybody to ask where they are. Because now, they can just see that on their BlackBerry’s.
Just take your Blackberry browser to Nulaz.com and we’ll sort things out from there on.

.

Nulaz @ Dance Valley

Who are these geeks? That’s us (or at least, some of us) checking out Dance Valley. And of course, checking out our application at Dance Valley. We wouldn’t have come for the weather nor for the music. The first not being very nice and the second not to our liking. However, with a bit of imagination and a couple of beers we made the most out of it. Also, the application was received really well and our bluetooth location detection worked better than we expected. We had about 50 bluetooth devices covering the area, and you were detected within a 100 or 10 meter range. There were about 8500 people using the application, which was distributed through a widget and banners on Hyves and there was bluetooth distribution at the festival. At the entrance we had a promo team and big signs telling people to either turn on their bluetooth or text “dance to 3010″ to get the application.

It was a nice project and we have successfully tested some of our bluetooth technologies. You’ll be hearing more of this in the future!

Nulaz, Heineken & Dance Valley Release the Dance Valley Mobile Map

Where the organisers saw room for improvement, they worked to make this the best dance festival ever. One example is the classic Map / Time Table. You may remember these small maps that sometimes make it hard to find out when your favorite DJ will be starting his set and on what stage. It is with justifiable pride that Dance Valley, in close co-operation with the sponsor Heineken and the developer Nulaz, presents the Dance Valley Mobile Map for your mobile telephone.

The Dance Valley Mobile Map is a compact, super-handy map of the entire festival area. Using your telephone’s Bluetooth connection, you can always find your exact location on the Dance Valley Mobile Map, making it easy to find the right stage at the right time. This new service is part of Heineken’s ‘Serving the planet’ campaign. Or in this case: “Serving… Dance Valley visitors”.

This mobile service allows you to get the complete, up-to-date timetables for every stage, and then to find that stage on the map of the Dance Valley area quickly. You can also set an alarm on your Dance Valley Mobile Map, so that you never have to miss a moment of your favorite DJ’s set.

In addition to these services, visitors can also use the Dance Valley Mobile Map to find all of the Heineken bars, the Heineken Refreshing Sounds stand and other service points such as First Aid, token booths and restrooms.

How do you get the Dance Valley Mobile Map? Simple. Just text ‘Dance’ to 3010 (normal rate) and you will immediately receive the Dance Valley Mobile Map. Or if you prefer an even simpler method, visit the Dance Valley Widget at www.dancevalleyfestival.hyves.nl, fill in your telephone number, and presto! You’re ready for the hottest festival this summer!

Tickets are still available online through www.udc.nl, www.dancevalley.com and www.ticketbank.co.uk, as well as all Midtown & Free Record Shop locations.

New Site! (yes, again!)

New Site Screenshot
The last weeks we have been working hard on the Dancevalley thing (those subscribed should have gotten the application today. If you weren’t on the list yet, add your number in the previous post).
But that is not the only thing that kept us busy! Some things have been on our todo list for ages, and today have been fulfilled by the launch of our new site!
Some of the features:

  • Public Map. If you quickly want to look up something, you no longer need to login, but you can ‘taste’ Nulaz without an account.
  • Public profiles. It’s now possible to browse Nulaz without logging in (but stuff that requires edits etc, still needs your login).
  • Cleaner design
  • More in line with our phone client
  • Easier access to search
  • Completely language independent: Although we currently only have a English version, other languages will follow soon.
  • (and, for the geeks, a completely new codebase! All brand new shiny rust-free code!).

We still have a lot of features up our sleeve, the first of which we hope to release next week. For now have fun with the new site, and if you find any bugs, please let us know!

So, go check it our on http://www.nulaz.com/

The Valley of Dance!

In a few weeks, on the 12th of July, DanceValley is coming to Spaarnwoude. It’s a big festival (about 50.000 people are expected to be there). For the festival we have created a mobile application, to give you an overview of the terrain, with the different stages and performances.
We also created a small widget that enables visitors of your page to get the application.

To get the widget, copy the code from http://dance.nulaz.com/widget/
