Nulaz available in Blackberry App World

Even though we can not access the store from here in Amsterdam, we are available in it. For free! The application process took a while and they were very picky on the screenshots for some reason, but finally we made it. These stores and their submission procedures are a bit mystic, but it is defenitely a good way for us to reach a lot of people. So go ahead and see what we’ve got in store for you!

Mobile website updated

Hi folks!

In our constant challenge of improving Nulaz, we took a look at our little mobile and iPhone websites. We realized that they were not so “little”, which means they took long time to download for slow connections. Besides, some old and outdated phones had trouble with the mobile website. There was a feeling of unhappiness in the atmosphere because we were excluding possible Nulaz friends, and we don’t want that at all! We want as many friends as possible enjoying the Nulaz experience!

So, that’s why we have put a lot of effort in bringing you a new mobile and iPhone website, much more lightweight, more compatible and with new features, such as a new map, an option to see what’s happening near a given address, and much more!

Just visit http://www.nulaz.net with your phone and join Nulaz. Start inviting some friends and see what’s happening around you!

P.D. Nevertheless, we want to encourage you to try our mobile application, since we believe it will meet better your expectations. Just follow the link “Download our mobile app” in the mobile website.

P.D 2: And a final surprise for the iphone crowd: We are about to release an iPhone application! (but don’t tell anybody, it is a loud secret!)

Talking Nulaz on Frankwatching Behind The Web

Behind the web? We’d rather say behind the Mobile, but we’re still in a web oriented society where the mobile as a service device needs to fight for its right.
Anyways, here’s an interview about what we are doing and about what’s coming up.

Also read the post on Frankwatching.

What’s Hier.nl?

Together with Ilse Media, we have released a version of Nulaz, where we focus on the Dutch market.

There’s been a lot of tweets about the similarity between www.hier.nl and www.nulaz.net. Some people found it before we did the press release. And it is very similar, because it is the same service. The combination of our platform and Ilse’s content and reach will prove a strong alliance for this mobile service to succeed. We’ll keep you posted!

0.26 Update

Pictures!

As you can see from our version number, we are far from ready with the developments, but we have recently released a version with a lot of basic social networking functionalities that makes the application more relevant and usable for many situations. I must assure you that we are still in B3ta, and welcoming reports from bugs, features, and suggestions on our feedback page. Some of the things we’ve added are:

  • Taking profile picture with your camera
  • Uploading pictures to your profile
  • People have an extended profile, with pictures, statistics, comments, and interests
  • We added a profile wizard, so you can set up your profile when you start for the first time
  • and last but not least, we fixed a lot of bugs

Article in Dutch Newspaper Trouw

Last weekend we had an article in the Dutch newspaper Trouw. On their website there was some discussion on the origins of the Paquoia tribe, which we have -for once and for all- silenced by our reply (I’ve put it in the comments - only for Dutchies this time).

iPhone Website Upgrade

Yesterday, our iphone website got an upgrade. Just browse with your iphone to www.nulaz.net and you’ll get to see the new version. Apart from a number of bugfixes, we gave the website a much more native look and feel and we incorporated some of the new features we’ve been building on the web. It might still be a bit slow, but we’re working on that, so stay tuned, and keep a close eye on the app store.

Merry Christmas and a happy 2009!

As you can see it’s snowing here, and that’s where some of the team members will be this Christmas, while others will be in the more sunny side of Spain. We like Sinterklaas more than Santa Claus, but that’s just us. Anyways, if you want to receive a special christmas gift from us, write a special Christmas message in the comments, and we’ll send you one for free.

New Website Live….again

We are pumping out new websites these days like it’s out of fashion. Basically we shuffled the layout around a bit, and added some features:

  • We’ve put the menubar on the top for better navigation, and because we want it the same as the iphone and mobile website
  • We’ve added the recent activity stream
  • We showing you items all across the map, instead of just the items around you, and we cluster them if you zoom out
  • We’ve added LOKI and GEODE wifi localisation
  • We created a step-by-step profile and location builder
  • We put more information around the map, so you know what you are seeing; a legend, people and places nearby, quickjump to locations and people, the ability to switch off/on different layers
  • and much more….check it out!
  • We still have to include the trips, but that’s coming back soon
