New Website Live….again

We are pumping out new websites these days like it’s out of fashion. Basically we shuffled the layout around a bit, and added some features:

  • We’ve put the menubar on the top for better navigation, and because we want it the same as the iphone and mobile website
  • We’ve added the recent activity stream
  • We showing you items all across the map, instead of just the items around you, and we cluster them if you zoom out
  • We’ve added LOKI and GEODE wifi localisation
  • We created a step-by-step profile and location builder
  • We put more information around the map, so you know what you are seeing; a legend, people and places nearby, quickjump to locations and people, the ability to switch off/on different layers
  • and much more….check it out!
  • We still have to include the trips, but that’s coming back soon

Nulaz 0.24: CellID, Avatars, and much more…

As some of our users that ran the 0.23 version might have noticed, we have done an update (and firstly used our update method). There is a reason why some devices have had the 0.24 version already a month ago, and why some only got a new version about a week ago, and why BlackBerry users still haven’t got it. It has to do with our testphones getting stolen and replacing them took some time.

    .

    OK, so what’s in it?

    • It’s faster. It doesn’t block the interface on network traffic anymore, which is most noticeable on startup.
    • It’s got profile pictures for people and places (only uploadable via web or mobile web, still).
    • It’s got improved GPS placing on the map, and Cell ID localisation for those devices that support CellID from Java (Sony Ericsson and Blackberry)
    • It’s got improved battery life and data usage. Because we make more efficient use of internet connections and GPS updates, we have improved the battery drainage and data traffic (for those of you who still not have a flat fee, you fools).
    • It’s got a lot of other fine tuning under the hood that would bore the hell out of all of you reading this, so drop by for a beer on Friday afternoons and talk to any one of our developers to hear all about it.

    New Office

Last Friday, we have moved to the Plantage Middenlaan 31. We are fully installed now, and are glad to have everything up and running again. We have a nice Kindergarten next to us, and cafe Koosje has a team of new frequents….feel free to drop by if you are in the neighborhood; office warmings are held on friday afternoons.

    New Site! (yes, again!)

    New Site Screenshot
The last weeks we have been working hard on the Dancevalley thing (those subscribed should have gotten the application today. If you weren’t on the list yet, add your number in the previous post).
But that is not the only thing that kept us busy! Some things have been on our todo list for ages, and today have been fulfilled by the launch of our new site!
    Some of the features:

    • Public Map. If you quickly want to look up something, you no longer need to login, but you can ‘taste’ Nulaz without an account.
    • Public profiles. It’s now possible to browse Nulaz without logging in (but stuff that requires edits etc, still needs your login).
    • Cleaner design
    • More in line with our phone client
    • Easier access to search
    • Completely language independent: Although we currently only have a English version, other languages will follow soon.
    • (and, for the geeks, a completely new codebase! All brand new shiny rust-free code!).

We still have a lot of features up our sleeve, the first of which we hope to release next week. For now have fun with the new site, and if you find any bugs, please let us know!

So, go check it our on http://www.nulaz.com/
